OUR HUNDRED DAYS CAMPAIGN

Real world, we got our places and started manoeuvring on the 27th May 2009. There would be a week or so longer where the armies would be at peace and then at some point I would wave a flag and allow forces to cross borders.

The troops on both sides moved into positions for the upcoming war. I told the French players that the war flag would be set on Tuesday June 2nd '09 so that troops moving Tuesday night could cross borders into Belgium. This would be June 12th in-game time. The Allies only heard about this a few days later unless they got intelligence from the ground.

Some correspondence prior to open war:

June 10th, the eve of invasion

Map of dispositions for  June 11th. Ney and Napoleon have moved north but they could not to be said to be fully prepared to launch an offensive. Wellington has begun a massive shift of his army to the north in anticipation of a French left hook. It would be a correct guess.

June 12th - The invasion of Belgium begins. Grouchy on the French Right immediately crosses the frontier but the French left continues marching north.

(The dates are wrong on the above message. It ought be the 12th.)

June 13th - First serious contact is made as the French push more troops in to support initial meetings at Namur. In the north, the French Guard pushes as far east as Renaix while Ney continues to muster at Toucoing.

June 14th - The Battle of Namur - Our first miniatures battle is fought. In the north, Ney's cavalry gallops east ahead of his infantry, getting to Ghent well before it ought to.

At Namur, Grouchy assaults across the Sambre via four different roads and soundly defeats the lone Prussian Reserve Corps there.

The Prussian III Corps is obliged to retreat north

June 15th - There are lopsided skirmishes in the north while in the south, Grouchy rests the Right Wing.

June 16th - Prussians fall back from Charleroi and Wellington nearly completes his concentration at Ghent. Ney consolidates.

June 17th - Heavy contact in the north. Blucher has his Corps start to form a ring around the idle Grouchy.

(weather and code bugs would mean that there would be no battle on the 18th so the British and French forces were all assembled and ready to fight on the 19th)

June 18th - Grouchy pushes north to Ligny, while Prussian IV Corps his Namur behind him. Both Ney and Wellington concentrate their forces for a battle at Deinze.

June 19th - The final moments

The Battle of Deinze - Wellington's force meets Ney and Napoleon without either the Dutch Belgians or Blucher in support
