ERIS

Eris, sister of Eros, is the Goddess of strife. It was she that created the golden apple that would be the prize and cause for the Judgement of Paris.

This is after the first hour. The original composition sketch had no left arm, so trying to work it into the figure is awkward and forced. Then an hour spent darkening it with background and hair

Another hour and a half spent in the softening glaze phase. Then I started doing some painting in the highlight areas to model form. I'll let it dry and return to it to get the umber shadows.

An hour on face and a half on apple hand

   

Seeking to work through some modelling issues, I undertake to do pencil work atop a greyscale printout of the painting.
