CAIN AND ABEL

The challenge was given to do a Cain and Abel in the style of a Baroque artist, so this will be Rubenesque. I think I would want it to be 8 feet high, but instead it will be 24" x 30"

I ended up selecting the moment when Cain is just about to act and I want to show Cain just as shocked by what he is about to do as Abel, butAbel should look with a bit of disdain.

Below is a composite of the sketches using MS Paint to give a quick idea of the figure composition. Abel's right arm will be swung back and holding something like a bloody lamb's pelt. Cain's right hand will be clutching a rock, torqued to attack.

I may try the overall again but making the figures both more curled up and active - getting Cain at least into more of a ball shape that he can spring out of. The torso started to become too flat and frontal in the renderings.

After allowing it to dry for a week, I attack it again for a couple of hours
